Since I’ve had so much free time lately, I’ve been exploring some new beauty products and thought I would share some of my favorites. I never get rid of a beauty products if I don’t see results right away. Sometimes skincare products can take 3-4 weeks for results to show! A few of these products I gave up on too soon and decided to give them another shot. And I’m glad I did because here they now are on my list of favorites! Here’s a mix of some of my favorite skincare, body and makeup product from the month of April.
Bare Minerals ‘Oil Obsessed’ Cleansing Oil– This was a new purchase that I’ve been meaning to make for a while. Previously, I had been using Dermalogica pre-cleanse which is basically the same idea; but there was just something about this one that I absolutely I loved. The Bare Minerals oil-based cleanser felt so luxurious on my skin and left it feeling clean, but not squeaky clean. My skin has become very dry over the past year so I have switched to oil-based products to revive my skin and help it retain it’s moisture. Some cleaners can strip your skin of it’s natural oils and lead to breakouts, dryness, or a dull complexion. This cleanser takes off all my makeup and makes my skin feel soft, subtle and hydrated afterwards.
Botanics Daily Facial Oil with Rosehip- Like I said, my skin has become much more dry in the past year. Which is strange because I had always had quite oily skin and stayed away from oils and moisturizers, but now they’re my best friends. What I love most about this product is how inexpensive it is. You can find Botanic’s products at Ulta or Target and they offer clean, organic, and cruelty-free products that are great for sensitive skin. I use this facial oil in the morning before I put on my makeup for a glowy and dewy complexion, and at night to re-hydrate my skin after a long day. My makeup slides on after I let this product soak in for a few minutes and it gives me the luxurious, soft skin that’s hard to touch.
Tula Acne Clearing and Tone Correcting Gel- I literally just finished this bottle last night and I am so sad because I don’t have a back-up. This product has been one of my holy grails for getting through petty breakouts. Many acne clearing products are made with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid that dries out your acne, while also drying out your entire face. Tula’s acne clearing gel is a GEL. It glides on and doesn’t sting or burn in the process. I have seen a drastic improvement in my overall skin tone and hyperpigmentation scars while using this product. Currently adding another bottle to my cart now! (And don’t worry that the new bottle looks different, they just changed their packaging)
Shea Moisture Illuminating Body Wash- While we’re on the topic of dry skin, moisturizing your body is important too. My skin looks so dull in the winter and this body wash is just what I needed to brighten it up. I have been using this skin care line for a few years now and switch to the black soap body wash in the summer, to prevent oil build-up in my pores from the heat. The coconut and hibiscus body wash keeps my skin looking a bit more lively in the cold months. I’ll even pair it with Jergen’s In-Shower Tanning Lotion for some color and radiance. (Check it out on my self-tanning blog if you haven’t yet) This brand is cruelty free and uses natural, organic ingredients so it’s great for people with sensitive skin, like me.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Primer- Talk about one of my all-time favorite products. I’ve re-purchased this primer at least 3 times now and it has become a staple in my makeup and skincare routine. Not only if this my favorite primer, but it is also great on it’s own as a moisturizer. This product makes my skin feel soft and makes my makeup application so easy and smooth. The hyaluronic acid helps repair my skin and fades post-acne marks and scars, which is a huge concern for me. First Aid Beauty is one of my favorite new skincare brands and I just purchased their ultra repair daily moisturizer, so maybe that will be in next month’s favorites!
Benefit GALifornia Mini Blush– This blush was hiding in my makeup drawer for almost a year now. I don’t know why I stopped using it then because it’s my favorite blush color now. I was using a deep pink blush from Mac for the longest time and loved the color itself, but never quite knew what I didn’t like about it once it was on my cheeks. Well duh, my skin is cool to neutral toned and pink just didn’t work for me! Play around with a few blush colors and see which one works best for your skin tone and face shape. I love putting a tiny bit of this blush color on the tip of my nose for that sun kissed makeup look.
Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Foundation Stick- Now I don’t if I’m using this product with the same purpose Bare Minerals had in mind, but it works! I use this Bare Minerals foundation stick in the color Sienna, to contour my cheek bones, nose and jaw line. I take my flat contour brush and tap a little on the top of the foundation stick so there’s just enough, but not too much product on the brush. I then apply it right above my cheekbones and on the sides of my nose, and a tiny bit on my jaw line. I love how easily this product applies and blends into my skin. I usually apply it right after my foundation and use a dry beauty blender to blend it in. (yes, you would be surprised how well a dry beauty blender works!)
Bare Minerals ‘Bare Pro Glow’ Highlighter- So since this is the third Bare Minerals product in my list of favorites, I think it tells you how much I love the brand. Bare Minerals was the first makeup brand I ever used because of how clean their products are and the message of women empowerment the company carries. This was another product that I rediscovered in my makeup drawer. At the time I was looking for a highlighter with a ton of shine (more of an artificial look) but right now I’m loving the natural, dewy look and this highlighter gives me just that. I apply this liquid highlighter in the color Free, using my fingers and blend it in further with a beauty blender. I apply it to my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose and cupids bow. Sometime’s I will even apply a tiny bit of it to my collar bones for an extra “pop”. It gives me the perfect natural sun kissed glow.
